Far East Deep South Wins Audience Award at Cinequest

We’re so happy to announce another major win for our film. We made our World Premiere in March at Cinequest Film Festival before the pandemic shut everything down and also screened during their Virtual Film Festival in October. It’s been quite a journey because of the unusual year the world is having. It’s a wonderful surprise to receive this award when we didn’t even know if audiences would be able to watch our film at all several months ago.

We thank everyone who watched our film in-person in March and online in October for giving our film such high ratings!

Far East Deep South Wins at Oxford Film Festival

Oxford Film Festival had their awards ceremony online for the 1st time ever and our film won Best Mississippi Feature Film!!! This was the first time we have competed against both documentaries and narrative feature films in a category. There were so many great films that it is a huge honor to receive this award. Normally, there’s an actual “Hoka” award presented so it’s bittersweet not being able to celebrate in person in Mississippi. We know there are more important things in the world than awards, but it was nice to get some good news. Don’t forget our film is playing online until June 12. Watch it here http://Oxford.fareastdeepsouth.com

We hope to show video of Larissa Lam and Baldwin Chiu’s online acceptance speech soon.

Oxford Film Fest Goes Virtual June 5-12 with Far East Deep South

The Oxford Film Festival was originally to have taken place in Oxford, MS in March. Like all other events, is was postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19 shutdowns. Well, the festival will now be doing the Oxford Virtual Film Festival online all summer and Far East Deep South is in the lineup! This will be next time the general public has an opportunity to see Far East Deep South since theaters and festivals continue to be shuttered.

The film will be available to watch on demand only between June 5-12. The cost to watch the film is $10. The proceeds from the “ticket sales” will help offset lost costs to the festival and the filmmakers due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Once you buy a “ticket”, you can watch anytime during the week the film is available. Your “ticket” purchase will also give you access to join the live video Q&A on June 10th at 5pm PDT/8pm EDT (New date/time!) with director, Larissa Lam, producer, Baldwin Chiu and editor, Dwight Buhler.

The Oxford Film Festival is hoping to have a real in-person festival later in the year but until then, please support the film by going to Oxford.FarEastDeepSouth.com  for info on this screening and to purchase a “ticket”.
