Education

“The story is beautifully presented and paced. It was touching and informative on many levels and should be widely viewed.”

Dr. Gordon H. Chang,
Professor of American History, Stanford University

GET OUR FILM THROUGH NEW DAY FILMS

Far East Deep South is now available for educational licensing through our exclusive educational distributor, New Day Films, for streaming or on DVD.

Education is the highest priority for film. Our goal is to have a major impact in how U.S. History is taught in classrooms and portrayed in media. After seeing Far East Deep South, we hope that when people learn and discuss segregation and exclusionary immigration laws, they will include the Asian American experience. The film also helps facilitate important conversation about race, heritage, the immigrant experience and what it means to be American that helps bridge divides and lead to better understanding between people. The film is a helpful tool for schools, companies, churches and community organizations in helping to enrich those they serve.

WATCH ON KANOPY

Far East Deep South is now available to watch through your university’s Kanopy* account. Use your university login to start watching. If the film is not available or you cannot get access to it, there’s a form on the page where they can request it and Kanopy will contact the librarian to see if they can add it. If your university does not have Kanopy, they can license the film through New Day Films.

*Currently, our film is not available through Kanopy at public libraries, only higher learning institutions.

We also know that many schools have been hit with budget cuts and lack the resources to purchase an educational license through our distributor, New Day Films, for their school. We want to make our film accessible to more schools so we’re introducing our FIRST CLASS INITIATIVE. We are creating a special fund that will enable teachers at middle schools and high schools to screen our film in their classes for the first time and engage their students in discussion with a study guide.

If you haven’t already, make sure you subscribe to our newsletter below to get updates. If you’re interested in making a tax-deductible gift to the FIRST CLASS INITIATIVE fund, please visit our donation page here. If you are an educator who would like to apply to receive a free screening copy of our film for your classroom through our First Class Initiative, click here for more info and to apply.
